Amelia is completely smitten with Miles.
We had an absolutely delightful time visiting our niece, Alex, her husband, Jackson, and their thirteen month old son, Miles. Jackson’s family has lived in the area for multiple generations. He and his grandfather both went to Fort Benton High School. Jackson’s graduating class of 2011 had 34 kids! Odds are Miles and his hard yes/potential yes one or two siblings will be attending Fort Benton High, but one never knows for sure what the future will bring.
Amelia fell in love with Miles. She’s already wondering when she’ll see him again. She bathed him and put him to bed by reading stories and rubbing his back. My favorite thing was watching his belly forward strut while meandering around the house.

The sign tells the story and gives you a few stats, what it doesn’t say is the town has two gas stations, a grocery store, a nine hole golf course, and a six lane bowling alley!

The Missouri River two miles west of Fort Benton.

On our first night we loaded into Alex’s 2004 Tacoma, affectionately known as Shelly. We were hoping to catch a glimpse of the aurora borealis. It was too cloudy, but I supplied the entertainment trying to wedge myself into the back seat. Alex and Amelia got a big chuckle out of it.

Benton and Fernley, their two beautiful German shorthaired pointers with the best seats in the house.

There’s farm land all around Fort Benton, but about an hour away are some nice mountains that we hiked on Saturday and Sunday.

We lucked out with perfect weather. The summers can get into the 90s and the winters brutally cold with negative temps and a fierce wind.

So happy!
Lovely lunch spot above Shonkin Creek with a friendly horse across the the road.

One day Alex and Jackson went grocery shopping and left Amelia in charge.

Imagine that, different city, same problem, deer wandering around. This is their front yard.

I don’t know if this is an everywhere thing or a Montana thing, but apparently nowadays instead of TP’n a house, they put flamingos in the yard.

An elk sculpture made out of horseshoes in someone’s front yard.

So happy, that sums up the entire visit.
Hi Amy and Greg! What a fantastic post! Glad to see you two are having an amazing time.
Thanks Shelli!
So awesome you had such a great visit with kin. It’s obvious who I can look to to hang out with my grandkids…when they eventually arrive. 😉
